  15. Don't worry guys you're the best ;)

    ReplyDelete
  16. also, I'd just like to point out how awesome One Piece actually is -- it comes back into Jump, and people are so crazy about buying it that none of the raw providers even get a chance to buy it in time.

  18. @blade5546

Actually shonen jump goes on sale every monday. Getting the raw before monday is kinda inside job. It's either it leaks on printing press or stores that already got their stocks. Why so early? coz it takes time to distribute it on ALL japan retail stores. and yeah, it's impossible to distribute it all at once that will go on sale the very next day.

  21. thanks for your effort guys. Can't wait for Bakuman

    ReplyDelete
  22. Joseph, what?

    That's not even remotely related.

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

forget it, you're not making any sense. we NEVER get the raw before monday and I never expected it to be here before monday, that's completely different, I'm saying everyone is getting it later than usual.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i m saved tomorrow is my exam :)
hope after the exam i can enjoy the manga.
    is one piece coming?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Take your time, there is no rush.

    And for those wondering,

A, One Piece is returning this week
    B, No Naruto this week
C, "Bench", the oneshot made by the creator of Naruto, won't be out this week. It will be in the next Jump.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @blade5546: no, he is right, we get it EARLIER than the stores in japan. However he made one mistake. The spoiler pictures come from guys who have inside connection to jump, either in distribution or in jump itself. However the raw that we usually get comes from the mail-order jumps. Those are usually send out before it appears in the stores.
    Imagine it like this:
monday: jumps new issue gets printed
tueday: Shueisha and the distrubution companys gets the copys.
wednsday: Shueisha gives around the first copy to the coworkers and mangaka
wedsnday/thursday: The distrubution company sends Jump around Japan(and some out of japan)
thursday/friday: People receive jump in their mail
monday: all stores get finally the issue

  26. Oh!No problem guys, I can't complain, just wait. That's what I'll do. Waiting for every week end scans *_*

  27. if the author of naruto is making a one shot then the ending of naruo is very very near, dont u guys think?

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Prototype_0X7

i don't think so... the one-shot is part of an event where various super-mangakas are gonna make a one shot starting in issue 45. akira toryama is making a one shot and i seriously doubt that he is returning to manga now...

plus you have to consider that the entire manga industry is held by Naruto, One Piece and Bleach... i don't think jump would be very happy to end one of those series so easily, first they have to loose some popularity. consider one piece, the manga is in volume 60 or something and just now was announced that it's only in the middle of the entire story!!

i seriously doubt it... but i would like naruto to end actually. never liked it very much and now i'm really sick of it... but the author has potential so... maybe it would be a good thing!

    ReplyDelete
  29. @o anemona

Dragon Ball ended, and the way Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach are holding up the manga industry isn't even close to how Dragon Ball ended it. (Save for One Piece, which quite honestly is doing an amazing job.)

    ReplyDelete
  30. @sorrywatisdis55

obviously naruto will have to end sometime! i just think it's not right now.
dragon ball was nothing in sales compared to one piece and naruto, we have the image it is because it was a great phenomena outside japan, but inside it wasn't quite as big as you might think. at least compared with the "holly trilogy".

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Kibate, it makes no squad sense that scanlators get raws earlier than Japan retailers. I could believe it's at the same time, but earlier? Readers, Japanese or otherwise, would just read online instedad of actually buying the magazines, where the money is made.

Here is a research paper I dug up:

    http://www.docstoc.com/docs/20816269/Japanese-Publishing-Industry

and for the gist of being discussed here, the crucial image displaying the magazine distribution:

    http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/9550/mangadistribution.gif

    ReplyDelete
  32. O ANEMONA DONT EVEN GIVE ME THAT SHIT DRAGONBALL WAS THE BEST SELLING MANGA IN EXISTENCE AT ITS TIME, passed only by One Piece and Kochikame and only because they had so much more chapters and more volumes on sale.

But yeah, shift button aside. Dragonball sold WAY more copies-per-volume than One Piece, One Piece just sold more in total because it's bigger.

Akira Toriyama has a pretty much God status when it comes to Japanese manga, just because Bleach is successful does not mean it's doing anymore for the manga industry than DB did, I assure you.

You really have to broaden your horizons if you're under the impression that the manga industry is being held up by three mere shonen titles, and furthermore that there weren't more successful shonen titles before them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. sorrywatissomething the manga i'm reading at the time are: tekkonkinkret, nº5, mushishi, suiiki, ode to kirihito, and bakuman. i think you will agree that it's not very generic, so don't come with that shonen crap, i'm not a 14 year old kid with a naruto headband.

i admit i don't know everything and i was just giving my opinion due to the probability of the baseball oneshot by the author of naruto replacing naruto itself, but i really don't feel like it now.

i do not have time for this anymore.

keep your token victory and put it up on the wall, i have things to do.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Have you thought of brining up old scanlated manga like Bakuman CHapter 1- 91 and HunterXHunter?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think we all can agree on two things. 1, One Piece, Bleach and Naruto are the most popular mangas at the moment and they are Jumps big earner. These three ending will make the manga industry suffer a slight slump. 2, The ending of one or all of those three mangas will not destroy the manga industry. It will take a hit, sure. But it will recover after a while.

There is no question that Dragonball is one of the most popular mangas of all time and it probably did the most to help the industry since Astro boy. I will ask you however how you came to the realization that Dragonball has sold more then One piece on a volume by volume basis. I've looked around and I can't find any accurate numbers that shows how many copies of a volume was sold. Truth be told, I can't find any numbers to that effect at all.

the only thing I could find was that One Piece has on multiple occasions broken the most sold in one week and how many copies of a volume was originally printed up (3 million for volume 57)

I should note, this is not an attempt to flame or attack, I'm honestly curious where you got those numbers since it would help in another discussion I'm having, no matter what the results.

  36. whatever guys,

Yeah they have the raws now!
Hope Bakuman goes out first! =D

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Christoffer

yep... same here. found some statistics on sankakucomplex.com but they all said one piece sold more than anything ever and stuff like that... no volume per volume statistics thought...

  46. YESSS! OP is HERE! (continues patient vigil for others)

    ReplyDelete
  47. @sorrywatisdis55
DBZ-42 complete 150,000,000 - 160,000,000 volumes sold but one has to realise that after a manga ends,,their are different versions.Like special editions, hardbacks, paperbacks[whatever words Japanese use for these].So itdoesn't represent first volume sales like OP's case does.-3809523 per volume

    OP on the other hand
    58 volumes ongoing -189,000,000
    3258620 per volume

But if DBZ ongoing & OP ongoing is concerned,OP fas faster & has higher sales.OP is the fastest manga to reach 100 million sales amongst ongoing series.DBZ had 26 years to gather the sales it did while OP had 12.OP is the undisputed leader as for sales goes in Japan.Toriyama is treated as a god no doubt because of the influence he had.

As for the competeition b/w OP & Naruto. As far as Japan goes-There's like a gap b/w sky & earth

    http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-08-25/one-piece-manga-sells-20-million+books-just-in-2010

Read that 15 million more then Naruto

    ReplyDelete
  48. wow....this place has become a forum about manga industry...lol

    ReplyDelete
  49. Honestly right now Bakuman and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! have my attention now... OP, Bleach, and Naruto at this point are getting repetitive, don't get me wrong I still love them, it's just they've lost the flare of excitement they used to give me with new and exciting stuff, well at least the latter 2, since the OP time skip is just what the series needed, so now it's gonna be awesomer XD!

This is completely off-topic, but I have been wondering, does anyone else think the art-style the author of D. Gray-man adapted after she came from hiatus is terrible, or is ir just me? It's so confusing, and it makes it hard to keep up with what's happening! Well, that's just my opinion...

    ReplyDelete
  50. @LebaneseItalian1

so the war happened in One Piece is repititive? LOL
their total defeat with Kizaru at shabondy? LOL
    the impel down arc? LOL

    come out Bakuman!... ^^

    ReplyDelete
  56. @LebaneseItalian1
dont be ridiculous, man! OP repetitive???

Joseph said well. Did u see that battle in Marine HQ? thats unprecedent in history of manga, man. thats epic. so many characters fighting, and so many histories! So many links and feelings in the same war! If was a toriyama's manga, (or naruto. also bleach. saint seya too. haha) u know what would happen???? Everybody would sit, and watch luffy fight one by one in a tournament, and if luffy wins, Ace was saved!!! hwahahahah... RIDICULOUS!!!

doesnt matters who sold best. the level of the mangakas are too distant. up above are Eiichiro Oda, Takehiko Inoue, the double wonders (Ohba&Obata) and very few others. below are stuff that brings good money!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ok I quit, gotta sleep. I'll read when I wake up! Thank you sleepyfans for all your hard work

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Manel
Oda deserve a title like 'mangami'
    manga+gami = manga god =D
lol, people sure have different taste and views..
I guess we really need to respect them,
though we are cooler coz we enjoy it more than they do.. ^^

    oh god, QCing bakuman...

advance thanks Sleepyfans, sleep well ^^

    ReplyDelete
  59. People keep saying that 3 manga are holding up the manga industry but you forgot in some point Kodansha Magazine(fairy tail, air gear, gto and etc) outsell Shueisha Magazine(one piece naruto bleach and etc) so how do 3 manga hold up the industry where there competion outsell yes one piece make the most sales but Shueisha don't make more all around manga volume sales then the other company.

Also if naruto or one piece or bleach author died or got sick and stop doing them forever would you stop reading them.

So i'm calling bullshit on the whole conv

    ReplyDelete
  60. Airgear outselling these lol

FMA outsells Bleach & Naruto. No other shonen manga does in the current gen

    http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-06-02/top-selling-manga-in-japan-by-volume/1st-half-of-2010

  62. oh we're just talking about lebaneseItalian statement regading OP is repetitive...
not the sales of magazine, whatever, so don't take it as a whole..

By the way, does anyone have birthmark in their ass?
    God, bakuman got little delayed..

    ReplyDelete
  63. hell yeah, sankara!
see your link? thats not coincidence the only gekigas on the list are 2 of the same genius: Takehiko Inoue. Gekiga, man! in the middle of a bunch kid-like shonen and shojo manga, u know...

THATS is what is to be good.

  70. This chapter of Bakuman the quality varied throughout pages. I don't know if new expressions were being tested or something but a few of them just looked horrible (the worst being page 17 bottom left corner). This is one of the first times I really noticed some of the pages lacking quality. Still one of my favorite mangas so far though! Thanks for all the hard work!

  74. Ok haha, maybe I was out of line when I said OP was repepetitive, it is more original than Naruto and waaaaaaaaaay more than Bleach, but I still think OP just doesn't stand out to me anymore just because it's so big, as in Oda created so many different characters and situations, it's overwhelming to me, and it's just really long lol. Yet I say all off this, and I continue to read it haha, so I guess whatever I say doesn't really matter haha, oh well, thanks for Bakuman SleepyFans, you guys rock my socks :D
